A Beautiful Framework for Better Resolutions
Live your most ALIVE life
This month, we’re exploring the power of perspective-taking. And as we bring this year to a close and set our sights on juicy goals and intentions for 2025, this exercise couldn’t be more important.
In our newsletter earlier this month, I shared that some of the best decisions in life come from looking at life through two lenses—zooming in and zooming out.
Today, I want to pay extra special attention to zooming out.
When I had renowned wellness journalist and podcast host Liz Moody on the podcast, she talked about how “a healthy fear of death” helped her live her most ALIVE life. And I LOVED THAT SO MUCH.
For those of you freaked out that I used the “d” word…I invite you to sit with that. Death is an inevitable part of life. All of our journeys will come to an end. And that’s not morbid—it’s reality. And simply remembering that can invite us to make the most beautiful decisions in the moment.
Let’s zoom out together.
I want you to find your breath. And just notice it. Don’t change it, just be with it.
Take a moment to tune into your body, and notice how it feels to be in this physical form today.
Maybe take a moment to release any tension or strain.
Now in your minds eye, I want you to visualize yourself on your very last day on earth. Maybe you notice where you are and who you’re surrounded by. In these last moments, you recount your proudest moments. Your biggest joys. Your greatest triumphs. Those in the room with you share and celebrate your contribution to their life.
Now, grab a pen and jot down what is most important to you as a result of that visualization.
Who do you want to be? What do you want to be remembered for? What do you want to contribute, heal or make whole?
And now, from that place, I want you to write your intentions for the year ahead.
