AI Cannot Replace Your Purpose
What is YOUR Purpose
Hi, my friend,
This past year I’ve spoken in more rooms than in the previous five years combined.
And the one topic everyone wants to talk about, in addition to ambition, is AI.
Last year, tech entrepreneur and investor Vinod Khosla predicted that AI will automate 80% of high-value jobs by 2030.
And according to the World Economic Forum and McKinsey & Company, AI and automation are expected to displace as many as 375 million workers by 2030.
For many people, that’s shocking and terrifying.
And if you look closer at the predictions, these roles are among the most at risk:
Manufacturing: robotics, automated assembly lines
Warehousing: fulfillment centers, inventory management
Retail: self-checkout, cashierless stores
Transportation: self-driving trucks, delivery bots
Customer Service: AI chatbots, voice assistants
Admin & Clerical: document processing, scheduling
Content Production: AI-generated videos, copywriting, proofreading
But look closely at what’s less likely to be replaced:
Strategic Roles
Healthcare, Childcare & Counseling
Client Relations and Leadership
Ethics, Law, and Complex Decision-Making
Human-centered Work
Now, if you’ve read this far and you’re starting to get palpitations, breathe with me for a second. Because there is some juicy intel in this last list. The future doesn’t replace humans, it asks more of our humanity.
Strategic roles. Healthcare. Human-centered work. We need MORE of that. And even if some of your zones of genius fall on the impacted list, there is still something we can do about it. Because you’re not a static set of skills. You’re a dynamic human with a unique set of gifts.
Which brings me to this month’s purpose practice.
Purpose Practice: Genius Stacking
I believe purposeful work lives at the intersection of
our zones of genius,
what we value,
what we want to impact,
what we need,
and what cultivates a sense of contentment.
When those align, your work becomes future-proof because it’s uniquely human and uniquely you.
Step 1: Identify your zones of genius
When do you feel most alive and energized? What are you doing or sharing? How are you showing up? How are you feeling?
When do you find yourself in the space of flow? When do you fully lose track of time because you are so immersed and wonderfully carried away in the waves of that thing?
When you join a work or social group, what do you uniquely contribute that wasn’t there before?
What do people seek you out for most often?
Where are the moments that you’ve surprised yourself in your ability to rise to a new height or solve a unique and difficult challenge with ease and grace?
If you’re unsure, ask five friends who really see you, what they think your gifts are. (The key here is friends who really see you. Often when we ask others, they project onto us, so I believe it’s always a good measure to look inward first.)
Step 2: Stack them together
When I invite clients to identify and own their genius, they will often say, “But so many other people can lead/synthesize ideas/play the cello/do this thing. Is my gift really special?” First of all, it is really special. But second, your innate gift becomes even richer and more far-reaching when you combine, or stack, it with your other gifts.
How can you put your genius gifts together in the most unique and ownable way?
How does putting multiple forms of genius together distinguish you?
AI can replicate a task. But it cannot replicate a layered, lived, integrated human.
The only way through uncertainty is greater purpose, not hiding, not shrinking, not competing with machines.
Get to stacking,
Amina

I’m obsessed with the word stacking lately. Habit stacking and now genius/purpose stacking
